Ungdomsøen Stillbillede 1

The harbour at Ungdomsøen, the old Middelgrundsfort, is open to everyone all year round. We are an unconventional marina in the Øresund: mooring in the harbour is free for everyone aged 30 and under. If you are over 30, there is a harbour fee of DKK 40 per person in a kayak/rowing boat/on a paddleboard and DKK 70 per person in other vessels.

Ungdomsøen's young people are ready to welcome you to Denmark's youth island every day, all year round.

Velkommen i Ungdomsøens havn

The Ungdomsøen harbour is generally open every day of the year. The quay is staffed from 09.00 to 18.00. Mooring in the harbour is free for everyone aged 30 and under. If you are over 30, there is a harbour fee of DKK 40 per person in a kayak/rowing boat/on a paddleboard and DKK 70 per person in other vessels.

The harbour fee is paid in the kiosk on arrival. If you want to stay overnight in your boat, you pay the harbour fee plus an overnight fee of DKK 60 per person over 30 and DKK 40 per person aged 30 or under.

Ungdomsøens havn

The harbour is best approached in daylight. After dark, the entrance is marked with red and green lights on the eastern and western pier heads respectively. There are also two white beacons on the quay, marked with lights, that show the recommended course for entering.

The Ungdomsøen harbour consists mainly of rough stone and concrete sides. So remember plenty of fenders if you want to moor.

Anchoring is prohibited in the Ungdomsøen harbour and around Ungdomsøen. See your nautical chart for details.

You can moor at the harbour quay. You may not moor at the breakwaters, as they are less robust and cannot take it.

You are free to use the Ungdomsøen toilet and shower facilities when you come ashore. These facilities are available around the clock.

Water and electricity are available. As we only have two power boxes on the quay, please be considerate of other sailors in the harbour. It can also be a good idea to bring long cables.
Each power box has the following sockets:

• 2 x DK 230V

• 1 x 230V 16A CEE

• 2 x 400V 16A CEE

• 1 x 400V 63A CEE

There is no crane or sewage pump-out at the Ungdomsøen harbour.

There is no fuel station at Ungdomsøen.

If you have questions about approaching the Ungdomsøen harbour, write to us at info@ungdomsoen.dk.

Når I besøger øen, støtter I op om unge

Ungdomsøen is a platform driven by a strong vision. We empower young people to be active, engaged and curious people who take responsibility for each other, the community and the development of our society. Young people create projects and events here. And you support all of this when you visit Ungdomsøen.

To make Ungdomsøen as accessible as possible for young people, prices at Ungdomsøen differ. This means that young people under 30 get a discount on most things you can experience, book and buy at Ungdomsøen. In this way, everyone over 30 helps keep prices down for young people. You make it possible for young people to create the projects they dream of at Ungdomsøen.

Havneforhold

The Ungdomsøen harbour is 6 metres deep at its deepest. At both ends of the harbour there are concrete edges reaching up to 3 metres. From there, it gets shallower towards the beaches.

Mad og drikke

There is no restaurant at Ungdomsøen, so remember to bring a packed lunch when you visit us. We have grills and outdoor kitchens you can borrow, and you can rent fire pits and fire kits and buy firewood if you want to cook the food you bring over a fire.

If you have forgotten your packed lunch or get peckish, you can visit our kiosk on the quay in front of the main entrance to the fort. Here you will find snacks, cold drinks and light meals such as cup noodles and porridge. You can also buy Ungdomsøen merchandise, created by young volunteers.

If you planned to eat outdoors at Ungdomsøen but are interrupted by heavy rain and wind, ask in the kiosk at the main entrance. Our staff will try to find a place at Ungdomsøen where you can sit sheltered from the wind and rain.

How much does it cost to visit Ungdomsøen?

It is free to visit Ungdomsøen. If you come in your own boat, you pay a harbour fee if you are over 30. If you want to stay overnight or use the meeting and/or kitchen facilities at Ungdomsøen, there is an extra charge.

Why are prices higher for people over 30?

To make Ungdomsøen as accessible to young people as possible, prices at Ungdomsøen differ. This means that young people get a 30% discount on almost everything you can buy or book at Ungdomsøen. If you are over 30, you help make it possible for many more young people to visit and use Ungdomsøen. We call it the Ungdomsøen Robin Hood model.

Am I not welcome if I am over 30?

Of course you are! EVERYONE is welcome at Ungdomsøen. It does not matter whether you are young on paper or young at heart. The most important thing is that we all show consideration for each other. However, please note that our prices differ, which means that adults (over 30) pay more than children and young people.

How big is Ungdomsøen?

Ungdomsøen is around 70,000 square metres including the harbour. That is roughly the size of ten football pitches. We have 53,500 square metres outdoors (about eight football pitches) and 16,500 square metres indoors (about two football pitches). But that can be hard to picture, so here is a quick overview of walking times: It takes 10 to 15 minutes to walk around the whole island along the outer perimeter, where the campsite is, about 5 minutes to get from the quay to Hangar C, and on average about 2 minutes to get from the quay to most of the rooms inside the fort.

How do we find our way around?

You can get a map in the kiosk. You can also book a guided tour as part of your visit. One of the young people who have chosen to live on Ungdomsøen for a whole year will show you around the fort's 2.5 kilometres of winding passages and open green landscape, point out the historical details, tell you the tall tales and give you an overview of Ungdomsøen before your event. You can find maps here on the website under "Map of Ungdomsøen".

What can you do at Ungdomsøen?

Ungdomsøen is a platform for experiences where young people bring the content themselves. That means you can do more or less anything at Ungdomsøen. You can come up with your own exciting activities, or you can take a look at our range of activities on the "Activities at Ungdomsøen" page.

Can I swim?

Yes! Just be aware that you swim at your own risk. There is no lifeguard at Ungdomsøen, but there are lifebuoys and illuminated rescue ladders all the way around the harbour. Please swim at the end of the harbour basin with the diving boards – that is where there is least boat traffic.

Can we stay overnight at Ungdomsøen?

Yes! There are several ways to stay overnight at Ungdomsøen. You can book a dormitory for up to 10 people, rent a shelter for up to 8 people, book a pitch at our campsite or sleep in your boat. See all the options on the "Accommodation" page here on the website.

Can I drink alcohol at Ungdomsøen?

Yes, as long as you remember that you are on an island. This means you need to be extra aware of your surroundings. But that should not stop the party! If you have left your beer and cider on the mainland, you can buy them in the kiosk if you are over 18.

Can I make a fire at Ungdomsøen?

Yes, as much as you like! As long as you follow the Ungdomsøen rules for open fires: fires may be lit in the large fire pits at the campsite and in the sunken fire pits in front of Ungdomsøen's shelters. If you want to make a fire elsewhere, you can rent a fire pit in the kiosk. You can also rent other fire equipment. You need to bring your own firewood or buy it in the kiosk. Ask the Ungdomsøen staff if you want to make a fire or rent fire pits and other equipment.

What happens in winter?

Ungdomsøen is open all year round – also in winter. Winter is the perfect time to explore the 16,500 square metres of indoor space at Ungdomsøen, where you will find our activity rooms, among other things. Keep up to date with events at Ungdomsøen on the Events page.

How is Ungdomsøen funded?

Ungdomsøen is supported by many foundations, but they cannot pay for all the running of Ungdomsøen and all the great ideas of young people. That is why we also need to earn our own money, so Ungdomsøen is financially sustainable. When you visit Ungdomsøen and pay the harbour fee, buy things in the kiosk or book a room, you help us pay for Ungdomsøen.

I forgot something. How do I get it back?

If you forget something at Ungdomsøen, it goes into the lost and found box. Contact info@ungdomsoen.dk when you realise you have forgotten something. When you visit Ungdomsøen, there may be several groups at Ungdomsøen, each with their own purpose. This creates a good dynamic, and it is natural to say hello and be curious about the other guests at Ungdomsøen.
