Tomorrow's meal

We offer full catering at Ungdomsøen if you would like it. Our island chef serves breakfast, snacks, lunch and dinner. With us, the food revolves around great taste and fresh, local seasonal produce. That is why our meals are vegetarian by default.

Breakfast – DKK 55

• Yoghurt, milk, muesli, cornflakes, oats and fruit compote.
• A bun with cheese can be added for DKK 32.
• A cardamom bun can be added for DKK 40.

Lunch – DKK 85

• Pasta salad with grilled vegetables, roasted seeds, vegetables and dressing.

Dinner – DKK 150

• You can choose one of these three dishes for the whole group: build-your-own burger, Ungdomsøen's fasoulia with rice and beans, or the adventurous seasonal dish. Ask our booking team for more details.
• Organic beef can be added for DKK 30.

Drinks such as soft drinks and squash can be added. Prices are per person. Meals must be ordered for a minimum of 25 people. If you want to buy food from us, you must order it no later than 14 days before your event.

Bring your own food

You are very welcome to bring packed lunches or other food to Ungdomsøen. We offer several places where you can prepare your meal.

• We have picnic tables all over Ungdomsøen where you can enjoy your packed lunches.
• You can cook in our indoor shared kitchen, Kabyssen (the Galley).
• With a view of the sea and sky, you can prepare your meal in our two outdoor kitchens at the campsite.
• Foodlab has several kitchen stations and a commercial kitchen.

We have gas grills you can borrow, and you can rent fire pits and fire kits and buy firewood if you want to cook over a fire.

Apart from water, you are not allowed to bring your own drinks. They can be bought in our kiosk on the quay, where we sell soft drinks, squash and coffee, among other things.

Hop aboard the ferry in Nyhavn or get picked up by the fastest inflatable boat in the harbour when you visit Ungdomsøen.

From Nyhavn, Spar Shipping's cosy and charming blue-and-white ferries sail, with both indoor and outdoor seating. The ferry trip takes half an hour and offers sightseeing in Copenhagen Harbour. Spot the Opera House, the Little Mermaid, Amalienborg and maybe even the Royal Yacht Dannebrog if you are lucky. Ferry tickets can be bought at www.sparshipping.dk

If you are more into high speed and breathtaking action, you can book a trip with our partner Actionboat.dk. Their RIB boats reach speeds of up to 60 knots (110 km/h) and give adults and young people alike an experience they will not forget.

We have 70,000 adventurous square metres for you to explore. If you want to add an Ungdomsøen touch to your programme, you can book one or more of our activities, which are developed and run by Ungdomsøen's young people. At Ungdomsøen, there are lots of exciting rooms and accommodation options. You can sleep in a tent, shelter or dormitory, and you can rent indoor meeting rooms, such as our dining halls, if you need them. We can also recommend our amphitheatre for a cosy campfire in the evening. See an overview of all our facilities here.

As an organisation made up of young people and with young people as your target group, you can apply for funding to use Ungdomsøen. You can apply for funding for an activity, an event or a project where you think Ungdomsøen would be a fantastic setting, or for your school camp.

Apply to

• Nordea-fonden's local fund. Nordea-fonden is Ungdomsøen's largest donor and is very keen to support activities, projects and visits to Ungdomsøen. This can be on a larger scale, such as when Buster Film Festival held a democracy event at Ungdomsøen for 100 young people in autumn 2019. Or on a smaller scale, if you want to go on a weekend trip with your class and would like transport, accommodation and food covered.

• Tuborgfondet. They support events, ideas and projects within four areas
 

– Labour market – from youth to working life

– Entrepreneurship – room for green ideas

– Democracy – the voice and participation of the next generation
 

– Creative industries – emerging talent in rhythmic music
 

They also have a fund aimed at young people aged 16–30, Drømmepuljen (the Dream Fund), where young people in the target group can apply for up to DKK 100,000 and get an answer within 1 week. 

• The City of Copenhagen. They have a wide range of funds. Remember to highlight how your idea benefits the city's young people / associations when you apply here.

• Search the funding landscape yourselves at aktivfundraising.dk. It can be a good idea to start by applying to smaller foundations that get fewer applicants and are therefore easier to apply to.

Tips and tricks for a good process

1. Start in good time. Most foundations and funds take 2–3 months to reply

2. Read the foundations' guidelines and what they focus on

3. Talk through the following and make short notes on each point:

– What activities do you want to do?

– Why do you want to do them / What is the purpose?

– Who is the target group / Who will take part?

– When will you do the activity?

– What does the activity cost / what will the money be spent on? Be realistic. Foundations receive many applications. The closer you apply to the maximum, the greater the risk of a no or of getting less than you applied for

– What do you think will come out of the activity once it is over?

– Do you have partners? Foundations look favourably on that.

4. When you have a short answer to each point, you are welcome to send it to Ungdomsøen – we will give you quick comments. Maybe we can tip off the foundation/fund that a great project is on its way

5. After that, it is a good idea to call the contact person at the foundation/fund and tell them briefly about it. Ask whether the idea sounds interesting to them. Is there anything you should focus on? When is their next deadline? When can you expect an answer?

6. Write the application using the foundations' templates. Remember to describe how your idea fits the foundations' focus areas. You can send it to several foundations, as long as you remember to adjust the applications to suit each one

7. Feel free to send it to Ungdomsøen for comments, good advice and recommendations for partners, but remember that we need 14 days to comment unless we have agreed otherwise in advance
